Seeing as this will be the final post for those leaving on senior project, I thought you could get a little creative. Don't prove me wrong.
At each at-bat, a player selected song is played over the loud speaker. Not going to lie, until recently there was a sterotypical fomula to the songs (white players played country/pop, black players played rap, and latino players played salsa), but nowadays the players are selecting songs themselves and moving away from the sterotype. Thank goodness.
Now it's your turn. You only get about 10-12 seconds of a song. It can be any portion of the song, but I want to know 1. What song would you choose? 2. What portion would you have the announcer play? 3. Why would you choose this song? You can link to the youtube version of your song. And you by no means to to think of yourself walking up to the plate ... it can be onto the court, into a test, into a dance performance, on the block, whatever big moment you want.
Some of my faves this season:
Josh Reddick: Bernie Lean
Josh Donaldson: Regulator by Warren G
Mariano Rivera: Enter Sandman by Metallica
Angel Pagan: Blue
Buster Posey: Hell On Wheels
Panda: Dance (but has three others in the rotation)
Jeter: Otis by Jay Z
My pick -- Madonna -- Holiday -- 4 secs-16 secs. Classic. It says I have great taste in 80s music. It says, don't mess with me because not only can I dance and sing and do crazy yoga poses, but I can also kick some butt when I need to .... just like Madonna.
My song would be Can't Deny It by Fabolous and Nate Dogg, 6 seconds-29 seconds. This song says that literally you don't want to mess with me. By hearing this song before I go up to bat, I would be filled with immense confidence and a bit of cockiness, which would help me get a quality at-bat.
ReplyDeleteMy song would be Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake, 28 sec-1:04. This song is the perfect pump-up as it has the ability to make any occasion into a dance party, thereby giving me the energy to perform at my best.
ReplyDeleteMy song is Binky by Snarky Puppy, specifically 7:00 in. This song jacks me up as I step onto the field, and I can't help but rap some Eminem lyrics in my head over it (Till I collapse, Lose Yourself, or Forever, take your pick). Gotta love a Jazz Fusion-Hip Hop mixture.

You're welcome.
I would play Sandstorm by Darude, 0:21-0:37. This song got everybody pumped up during 7th grade dances and it still gets the job done. I can picture myself walking up to the plate during a bottom of the ninth rally to this song, and I wouldn't have that moment any other way.

(Enjoy all ten hours on repeat if you so please)
I would have the song "Carry Out" by Timbaland and Justin Timberlake for various reasons. a) because Justin Timberlake is a very sexy man who I appreciate hearing b) because on the first day of senior year, my best friends and I pulled up into the circle, decked out in black and red with the top down to my bug which provides great memories and finally c) because it's a great song that I can get jiggy to.
ReplyDeleteProbably from 41 seconds in to the end of the chorus

I would choose the intro to the original Clash version of Guns of Brixton. It was my first favorite punk song, and has an incredible, recognizable bass line. For those who know the song and its lyrics, it has a very good "don't mess with our city" sentiment to send to the opposing team.

When I walk out I would want the song "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor playing, specifically 0:10- 0:30, but if it HAS to be under 12 seconds, just the chorus. This song gets me pumped up, tells people to remember me, and that I'm tough and like rap ;).

DeleteFor my walk out song, I would have the song "Indestructible" by Disturbed playing, particularly from 1:16 - 1:43. This song would get the crowd pumped up and it would also boost my confidence. This would create the perfect atmosphere for me to get a big hit.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to the song:

For my song, I would do "Livin on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, particularly the chorus from around 1:33-1:48. This song not only gives out the positive message that we (the team) are going to be able to make it, but also has the unmatched ability to get everybody belting the lyrics at the top of their lungs. I think this energetic atmosphere would serve to pump me up and improve my performance.

When I am warming up for a soccer game the song that gets me most pumped up for a game is "Go to Church" by Ice Cube. It gets me pissed off and brings my intensity level up. I would start the song at about 1:20, when it starts to get loud and really gets me pumped up. I don't think it would be allowed to be played at a stadium because of the lyrics. Either way this would be my walkout song.
ReplyDeleteMy song would definitely be Nuttin No Go So - Notch. I would start the song from 14 sec to around 24 sec. I've used this song many times before soccer games and it really helps me relax but also focus. It brings out the joy and happiness and hides the nervousness and anxiety.

My walk up song would be Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson. I'd have the song play from :10 - :22 so that there would be a few seconds of suspense until MJ does his characteristic scream and the beat starts. I picked this song because it's not the typical rock/rap walk up song but it gets the job done since it's an uptempo song. It'd also allow me to moonwalk up to the plate and get the crowd going.

I think my boy coco crispies from the OAKLAND ATHLETICS uses "Bernie Lean" as his walk-on song. In honor of COCO CRISPY, and because it has enough flow to be walk-on worthy, I choose a similar song: "The Way I lean."
ReplyDeleteI choose from :28-:40 because the rest of the song probably won't be appropriate.
Also, peep the python the guy has in the video.
Intro guitar solo to All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. I would play this because I like the into and I think it would get me in the right groove to hit well.
ReplyDelete- Lucas
The intro guitar to Come Home by Coheed and Cambria because it's one of the most epic guitar songs ever and it sounds sick. It would build up my energy slowly and it would manifest itself in a good at bat.
ReplyDeleteMy walk-up song would definitely be "The Only Way I Know " by Jason Aldean featuring Luke Bryan and Eric Church. :42-:52. There's no way to listen to that song and not get super pumped up about working really hard and absolutely acing whatever you're doing. It's exciting, easy to sing along to, and distinctive.
